BMW F650GS, the Best Touring Motorcycle
A touring motorcycle is a bike that is specifically designed for long-distance tours and heavy commuting. To address the specific needs of these types of riders, manufacturers have committed to designing Touring Motorcycles even though basically any bike can travel cross country.
The most luxurious and probably most popular bike of this kind is the BMW touring motorcycle. The BMW F650GS bike has bmw motorcycle parts that are of the best quality on the market. It typically has large displacement fairings and windshields to protect from high degrees of wind and unpredictable weather. They also come with large capacity fuel tanks that create a longer range between fill-ups. Touring bikes engines typically offer lots of low end horsepower, as well as a more relaxed, upright seating position than you would usually experience on a sports bike. Due to their increasingly popularity, Touring Motorcycles can be further subdivided into various sub-categories.
Full-Dress motorcycles are characterized by large fairings, ample bodywork, and the integration of hard luggage into the design of the motorcycle. This often includes both saddlebags and an attached top-mounting box. These tourers also have a very large displacement, torque-rich engines, and a super upright but comfortable position. Sports tourers are simply a hybrid between sports bikes and basic Touring Motorcycles. They allow for long-stance riding at higher speeds and offer a more sports-like performance when it comes to speed and handling. These bikes offer a common middle ground between Full-dress touring bikes and Global on and off tourers.
Some touring motorcycles are specifically designed to provide global touring capabilities, that means both pavement and off-road is an option. Basically, any destination is reachable with a global tourer. The motorcycles in this category get high ground clearance with the help of their large fuel reserves and large displacement and under stressed engines. This enables high reliability and a heavy torque output. Typical global touring bikes are very large, are great at top speeds on the highway, and handle the best of them all. Some noteworthy examples of a global touring bike is the BMW F650GS, F800GS and R1200GS; the KTM 950 and 990 Adventure series; the Suzuki DL1000 and DL650 V-Strom; and the venerable Kawasaki KLR650.

What the best touring motorcycle for someone with week hands?
I have some muscle problems but love to ride motorcycles and take weekend trips with my wife. Weakness in my hands gets worse the longer I'm in the saddle, so I've been riding a Burgman 650 scooter with an automatic transmission. The Burger is really a lightweight tourer and a bit small for two people. Any suggestions on a bike that's easy on the hands and not too God awful heavy?

sport vs sport touring motorcycles?
I really want to get a sport bike, but I'm having trouble deciding on what I should get, 3 to 5k is the budget. I like the comfort of a touring bike, but I don't want to sacrifice power for comfort and I don't want to sacrifice comfort for speed. I've been told that touring bikes aren't nearly as powerful as sport bikes. Are there touring bikes that could rival a sports bike? Can touring bikes be moded to keep up with a sport bike.
Any suggestions or ideas on makes and models or thoughts is appreciatied

Best tires for '04 Ducati ST3 Sport Touring Motorcycle.?
Looking for the Best wet / dry handling tires. Getting High Mileage from them is not my 1st concern. Choosing from: Avon Storm ST, Michelin Pilot Road 2CT, Metzeler Roadtec Z6 Anything else worth looking at?
By the way, I should explain. A Ducati or any other High-Performance Italian Motorcycle, will not use the same tires that are used on Harley's. As Harley's are street cruiser or long distance touring bikes, they have practically no lean angle. You can't lean a Harley over very far in turns without hitting floorboards or pipes.. That's not what Harley's are made for. Thus, ME880's are designed for Harley's and are flatter on top. Tires for Sport Bikes, have a rounded top profile, allowing the bike to lean fully into the turn. Thereby the tire is running on it's sidewall as the bike leans all the way over going fast through turns. A Sport Bike, even a Sport Touring rider can lean in on a turn and get their inside knee out and down for balance. Watch a Moto GP or World Superbike Race and you'll see the kind of turning these bikes can do, almost lying them on their side, the riders knee is used to drag on the ground as sort of an outrigger, 3rd point of contact.

motorcycle aftermarket seats?
I've got an older sport/touring motorcycle that I love riding to work and for short trips to the mountains but for long trips the stock seat is a bit hard and unforgiving, ok it sucks. Anyone out there able to recommend a good aftermarket seat, or even if you have any tricks they can share with me for making those once a year long hauls more comfortable and less numbing on the goods? Yeah yeah buy a crusier...maybe next year!
