The History Of Alternative Clothing

Alternative clothing refers to the kind of dress that people of the Hip Hop culture wear. When the Hip Hop culture came about in the 1970's, it came across as a rebellious and shocking way of portraying fashion. During those times, urban and skate clothing was considered as being very controversial, causing this kind of fashion statement to go underground.

There are many designers in the history of Hip Hop, who have been contributing a huge resource of designs to the world. Right from torn t-shirts and offensive clothing, this kind of clothing has eventually matured as one of the most popular kind of clothing that people of the new generation sport. Alternative clothing had its origins from right here in America.

The accessories that go with alternative clothing initially looked weird and people who wore it were branded as being unconventional, usually being looked down upo by people who are into mainstream clothing. Controversial images and patches along with studded jackets was the way the Hip Hop culture initially started.

From there to now, the world has evolved to accept the culture. In fact, the minute you walk on the street you are most likely to find good many people sporting skate clothing. When it comes to the footwear that the urban dressers wore, they usually wore motorcycle boots. However, that slowly changed and people started getting into the basketball culture and started wearing sneakers to mimic basketball stars.

This was just the beginning alternative clothing. A huge revolution happened when the 1980s welcomed the Hip Hop culture with open arms. With the different accessories that the Hip Hop enthusiasts wore, people started getting used to the fashion statement that skate clothing was making on the world.

Since most of the enthusiasts are skaters it started being known as "skate clothing" Skate clothing came to take on wearing "hoodies". Initially this was not accepted, but soon grew in popularity along with skate boarding.

In today's world, urban and alternative clothing has become one of the most creative ways that people are able to express what they feel and about how they desire to make a difference.
