Alternative clothing refers to the kind of dress that people of the Hip Hop culture wear. When the Hip Hop culture came about in the 1970's, it came across as a rebellious and shocking way of portraying fashion. During those times, urban and skate clothing was considered as being very controversial, causing this kind of fashion statement to go underground.

There are many designers in the history of Hip Hop, who have been contributing a huge resource of designs to the world. Right from torn t-shirts and offensive clothing, this kind of clothing has eventually matured as one of the most popular kind of clothing that people of the new generation sport.
