The Benefits Of Motorcycle Forums

Today's high tech environment has provided us as a society with endless possibilities with regard to gathering intellectual information. The same is true with being able to network with others. Forums have become a very popular tool for centralizing topics of discussion for virtually every aspect of life, and motorcycles is certainly no exception. So what are the benefits of motorcycle forums? There are many different benefits of motorcycle forums including networking with fellow riders, gathering information on manufacturers, makes, and models of motorcycles, troubleshooting and maintenance advice, and much more.

Motorcycle forums are a great place for networking with fellow motorcycle riders. Often times, motorcyclists have similar questions in mind that they need answered, so they turn to those that know the most about the subject at hand, other motorcyclists. Questions regarding what type of motorcycle to buy, what kind of motorcycle jacket or motorcycle helmet is the best for the cost, and what places are great places to ride are all topics that end up being discussed on motorcycle forums. Forums also present a great opportunity for riders to arrange group rides, and coordinate long range trips that may involve motorcyclists from a wide range of geographical locations.

Often times, first time motorcycle buyers will turn to motorcycle forums in order to learn about certain motorcycle manufacturers, makes, and models before making a purchase. Those that are actively contributing to the content of the forums will provide many different views on these topics which will help the first time buyer come to a conclusion about which motorcycle they want to purchase. Without learning from others experiences, the first time buyer will only have the manufacturer specs of the motorcycle to base the decision on. What looks good on paper may not necessarily mean that it will be the best overall choice in reality. Being able to discuss details about these topics with those who have first hand experience is very helpful when making a purchase which is something that motorcycle forums can provide.

Owning a motorcycle does require that you have some mechanical knowhow, even if it only includes the general items such as oil changes and annual maintenance. Sometimes, however, motorcycles present us with the opportunity to step outside of those boundaries, perhaps with a more involved mechanical issue that may require more in-depth knowledge that we may lack. In cases like this, motorcyclists may choose to visit a Motorcycle Forum in search of the answers needed to fix the mechanical issue at hand. Forum discussion topics will be organized by category so that particular issues are easy to locate, or new discussions can easily be started in the proper category. This will help save the motorcyclist time that can be used working on the mechanical issue, and will help ease the process of having to do the work on their own.

The motorcycle forums are a great source for networking, meeting new people, making friends, gathering information for first time motorcycle purchases, and troubleshooting or getting tips and advice on fixing mechanical issues. So the next time you have a question about a new bike, motorcycle jacket, motorcycle helmet, or any other issue related to motorcycles, or you're just looking to meet some new people with similar interests, you may want to check out a Motorcycle Forum.

Why do people "thumb's down" the answers here?....?
...and yet offer no answer or opinion of their own? I ask this question in the Motorcycles forum because It happens to the Top Contributors like Guardrail Jim, FireCracker, Nomad, Byron, Ride On and others... when their answers are thoughtful, well worded and perfectly valid.

1995 Triumph Thunderbird - cooling fan switch question?
My cooling fan has never come on. I tested the circuit by jumping the cooling fan switch wires and the fan does work. However it has got hot enough idling in traffic that the idiot light comes on, but not the fan. Do these cooling fan switch's go bad? Could it have scale built up and would cleaning it help? I have seen discussions on some other motorcycle forums that makes me wonder if this is "normal" on Triumph triples. Any one have a relevent experience they could share?

Adding water to a Wet Cell Battery?
Things you should know: 1. The battery in question is for my riding lawnmower, but its not much different then a motorcycle battery... that's why I'm asking this question in the motorcycle forum. 2. The battery is nearly dead. I have to put a battery charger on for 10-15 minutes to get it to turn over the engine. 3. I bought a new battery today and it works like a champ. 4. The old battery is not that old. About 6 yrs old. 5. It does not have fill caps but it does have two perforated plastic covers that I think I can wedge a flat-tip screwdriver (or two) into and force it open. Now here is my questions: A. Do you think my battery is low on electrolyte acid? B. Is this kind of battery refillable? C. If it is, should I use distilled water or de-ionized water? D. Will I get a couple more years of reliable service out of this battery or should I just say forget it, and take the battery back to Sears for an $8 core refund?

I am about to joint a biking forum but I am not able to think of a good ID for me. Please suggest some good ID relevent to a motorcycle forum. If somebody has a list of IDs, that would be really good.
