Motorcycle first gear grinding when shifting?
I have a 2000 Yamaha R6 with 35k miles, I got it used so I don't expect it to be perfect and is expecting to fix many things along the way. I notice sometimes when I shift from any gear (neutral or 2nd gear) to first gear. It grind the first gear and feels like the clutch is not fully disengage even tho I am pulling the leveler all the way. I try to adjust the clutch cable thinking it might be too loose, but it still does it. However it only happens sometimes and not all the time.
This happens most often when I am cruising on street and coming to a stop and i shift to first gear, it usually grind the gear and I cant shift down the 1st, but it will be okay if I pop the clutch and do it again.
Also if i shift down to first gear from rest (i.e. just started the bike at home) I can feel as if the tooth are forcing into each other cuz I usually hear a big clicking noise. All of these only happen at first gear and nothing else.
