Carey Mulligan: My Celebrity Style Icon

When I see photos of Carey Mulligan, star of "An Education", it is hard for me not to swoon over her style. I find it hard to believe that she and I are both 25 years old. Casual daily wear for me includes jeans, Nikes, and t-shirts while Mulligan's street fashion is polished and classy. She always looks ladylike and well put together, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn. Here are some of my favorite Carey Mulligan looks.

Carey Mulligan at TIFF 2010 At the "Never Let Me Go" premiere at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, Carey Mulligan was wearing a Christopher Kane resort dress which you can see here. She kept it simple with no accessories and this beautiful dress that fit her like a glove. Carey paired this dress with dark red platform pumps similar to the Kelsi Dagger Linzy Platform Pump. You can find Carey's Christopher Kane dress from Colette for $3, 172.37 if you want to replicate her look exactly. Unfortunately it is hard to find a dress with a similar outer space fabric print and neckline as Kane's. For a similar tailoring and considerably smaller price, you might want to try the Merona Taffeta Party Dress from Target for $31.99 which is black with a boat neck and very true to Carey's timeless style.

Carey Mulligan on the Set of "Drive" You can see photos of Carey dressed down and wearing clothing from her own wardrobe on the set of her upcoming movie "Drive" here. Carey is wearing jeans and cami booties from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's clothing line Textile Elizabeth & James. She accompanies this with a button up shirt and blazer. Like most of her outfits, her clothing fits very well and looks as if it might even be tailored. You can replicate this look very simply with any pair of skinny jeans, cami booties, a plain button up shirt such as the essential stretch logo cuff shirt from Express ($29.90), paired with a blazer like this micro twill jacket also from Express ($59.92). You can find Textile Elizabeth and James Skinny Jeans from Piperlime for $195. The Elizabeth & James cami bootie is available from RevolveClothing.com for $350.

Carey Mulligan's Beverly Hills Street Style More of Carey Mulligan's street style can be seen here walking around Beverly Hills. Carey is wearing black slacks, a cardigan, wayfarer sunglasses, and a shirt with a Peter Pan collar. To replicate this look, Urban Outfitters has your choice of a Peter Pan bodysuit for $14.99 or a Peter Pan woven collar blouse for $38. Add a pair of fitted black slacks, a plain cardigan, black wayfarer sunglasses from Overstock for $11.59, and a pair of ballet flats. This is an easy to put together stylish look that you can wear on a daily basis.

Carey Mulligan has style and class. Her look is effortless, timeless, and classic making her a true celebrity style icon. It is easy to mimic Mulligan's style with key simple clothing pieces that you can mix and match such as ballet flats, black tights, skinny jeans, black slacks, cardigans, blazers, Peter Pan tops, and well fitted dresses; pieces that are or at least look like they were tailor made for your body. Understated beauty with very natural hair and makeup with very little accessories needed makes Carey look like a million bucks every single time she leaves her house.

any advice on ICON motorcycle gear?
id like to get a Shoei helmet but they are so expensive. does anyone have any experience with ICON helmets? Or even jackets? im also looking at the ICON Motorhead jacket. Its between the ICON jacket and a Joe Rocket blaster 3.0. THe blaster looks like it would be so cool in the heat. Im also looking at the ICON Perimiter helmet and the Shoei TZ-R. Thanks for any opinions.

Street Riding Helmet. Link included! Pros and cons of this AGV helmet?
Hey all I am getting my first bike next spring. I can't wait to join the motorcycle culture. I've been saving up for 3 years and have been planning to buy a bike for 2 years now. I'm 19. It's going to be my first huge investment! I'm buying a Kawasaki Ninja 250R in black. I will be adding a detailed red paint job (Was thinking about the traditional green but I want to be different ;) I plan on getting a black Icon motorhead jacket. Heavily armored/ perforated Alpinestar glove and boots. (In red.) I'm still deciding on what chaps to purchase. Still deciding as well on which insurance I will get. I'm assuring myself that it will be "full coverage though. However this is the sexy helmet I'll most likely buy: http://www.agv.com/dyn_prod.php?p=S4_BLK... Pros and Cons of it? P.S. This is my last motorcycle question I'm posting. I just can't wait anymore. When I get her I'll be cruising, discovering new roads each night. I don't plan to pop wheelies (maybe one or 2 =D or a stoppie, but it seems horrible for the suspension.) I'm an overly FULL time student at my college and working a part time job. Full time job in the summer. Next semester I will be taking about 20 or so credits. I took 18 this semester. I'm an honors student. I mean to brag =P. I'm just so happy of all my accomplishments. I never saw my future to turn out like this. My parents divorced when I was 3 and my mother's in debt. Someday when I get a nice stable job my loved one's won't have to work so much to make a buck. But I'll make them realize that I did to save theirs. I'll finally be a part of this huge motorcycle family and I already feel accepted. Anywayyyy, I just needed to "vent" a little bit. LOL, pun intended.... The helmet does look like it has a great venting system. But please, what are the pros and cons of AGV's helmets, if you know of any? Thank you Stupid, immature comments are also accepted but won't help much.

What style of motorcycle gear do I need?
I've signed up for the state motorcycle safety class, but I'm new to the 'riding a motorcycle on the road' thing. It's a whole new culture. I am looking to start with either a motard or enduro / dual sport because I have some gravel roads to explore, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to wear. I like the look of the ICON motorhead jacket in either all black, or possibly yellow to match the bike I want (suzuki drz-400). And also, what style of helmet should I use? Seems like I've seen dual sport guys wearing motocross helmets on the road, but I'm not sure that's as safe or comfortable, but a street bike helmet doesn't seem right either. You might as well just talk me through all the gear I'll need... thanks!
