Carey Mulligan: My Celebrity Style Icon
When I see photos of Carey Mulligan, star of "An Education", it is hard for me not to swoon over her style. I find it hard to believe that she and I are both 25 years old. Casual daily wear for me includes jeans, Nikes, and t-shirts while Mulligan's street fashion is polished and classy. She always looks ladylike and well put together, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn. Here are some of my favorite Carey Mulligan looks.
Carey Mulligan at TIFF 2010 At the "Never Let Me Go" premiere at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, Carey Mulligan was wearing a Christopher Kane resort dress which you can see here. She kept it simple with no accessories and this beautiful dress that fit her like a glove. Carey paired this dress with dark red platform pumps similar to the Kelsi Dagger Linzy Platform Pump. You can find Carey's Christopher Kane dress from Colette for $3, 172.37 if you want to replicate her look exactly. Unfortunately it is hard to find a dress with a similar outer space fabric print and neckline as Kane's. For a similar tailoring and considerably smaller price, you might want to try the Merona Taffeta Party Dress from Target for $31.99 which is black with a boat neck and very true to Carey's timeless style.
Carey Mulligan on the Set of "Drive" You can see photos of Carey dressed down and wearing clothing from her own wardrobe on the set of her upcoming movie "Drive" here. Carey is wearing jeans and cami booties from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's clothing line Textile Elizabeth & James. She accompanies this with a button up shirt and blazer. Like most of her outfits, her clothing fits very well and looks as if it might even be tailored. You can replicate this look very simply with any pair of skinny jeans, cami booties, a plain button up shirt such as the essential stretch logo cuff shirt from Express ($29.90), paired with a blazer like this micro twill jacket also from Express ($59.92). You can find Textile Elizabeth and James Skinny Jeans from Piperlime for $195. The Elizabeth & James cami bootie is available from RevolveClothing.com for $350.
Carey Mulligan's Beverly Hills Street Style More of Carey Mulligan's street style can be seen here walking around Beverly Hills. Carey is wearing black slacks, a cardigan, wayfarer sunglasses, and a shirt with a Peter Pan collar. To replicate this look, Urban Outfitters has your choice of a Peter Pan bodysuit for $14.99 or a Peter Pan woven collar blouse for $38. Add a pair of fitted black slacks, a plain cardigan, black wayfarer sunglasses from Overstock for $11.59, and a pair of ballet flats. This is an easy to put together stylish look that you can wear on a daily basis.
Carey Mulligan has style and class. Her look is effortless, timeless, and classic making her a true celebrity style icon. It is easy to mimic Mulligan's style with key simple clothing pieces that you can mix and match such as ballet flats, black tights, skinny jeans, black slacks, cardigans, blazers, Peter Pan tops, and well fitted dresses; pieces that are or at least look like they were tailor made for your body. Understated beauty with very natural hair and makeup with very little accessories needed makes Carey look like a million bucks every single time she leaves her house.

any advice on ICON motorcycle gear?
id like to get a Shoei helmet but they are so expensive. does anyone have any experience with ICON helmets? Or even jackets? im also looking at the ICON Motorhead jacket. Its between the ICON jacket and a Joe Rocket blaster 3.0. THe blaster looks like it would be so cool in the heat. Im also looking at the ICON Perimiter helmet and the Shoei TZ-R. Thanks for any opinions.

He said its a mens but I think it might be a Womens.

How do SHIFT jackets fit?
I'm wondering because theirs one that i'd really like, but there's no shops around me that carry shift jackets. so i can't go over and see how they fit. And i'd rather not waste the shipping money sending stuff back and forth if i get the size wrong; especially if theirs someone here who knows.
I generaly wear a size medium, but i've found with Icon jackets, that they fit weird, a medium is too tight, and a large is kinda too big. However, Joe Rocket jackets (in medium) fit preety damn perfect, almost like a glove.
so i guess, for any of you out their, who have tried a Joe Rocket jacket, and a Shift jacket. How does their sizing compare? too tight? too loose? or just right (like joe rocket-right)
Thanks

Should I spend more $$ on my gear and leathers and get Dainese or Alpinestars? Or are the 'lesser' brands ok?
Ok, first off let me say that I believe in having good motorcycle equipment, and I am not the type to ride around on a bike in just a T-Shirt, or crap gear. But I am also trying to be..ummm..."thrifty" in what I spend for my gear. I have found that, for whatever reason, motorcyclists seem to dump their gear--like they sold their bike and the jacket doesn't match the color on the new bike, they had a baby, bought a house, girlfriend/wife told them to stop riding, etc.--so I bought my gear second hand. But I still tried to get good quality gear. So I have a Joe Rocket "Blaster" leather armored jacket that I got for $65, a Joe Rocket Ballistic Mesh armored jacket for $40, AGV Kevlar armored gloves for $20, a pair of leather chaps for $17 off of Ebay and an Arai Signet helmet (which original sold for over $300) that I got for $10 off of craigslist. Keep in mind that all my gear is in good/excellent shape, not falling apart, and I would trust to take care of me in a crash. So don't trip on what I paid for it; if it wasn't in good shape I wouldn't buy it, and alot of people will get rid of good gear in good shape for cheap just because they don't need it.
Anyways my friend is getting into motorcycling, just got a cushy job, and asked me to go look for some gear with him. So we go looking, and we go to a fairly high end store. Now he's looking at either a $500 Alpinestar RC1 jacket or some Dainese (model I don't know) but it was $600. And he's gonna get one of these $500 Shoei helmets, and already bought a pair of $100 kevlar gloves and is thinking about the leather pants and all.
Well, this made me feel a little "insecure" on my gear, and whether I should be shelling out the dough like he is. My question is, is there added "safety" for the price when you buy an Alpinestars or Dainese jacket as opposed to when you buy a lessor priced Joe Rocket or Icon jacket? And same with the helmets? Is that Shoei gonna protect my head better than that Snell and Dot rated HJC? I am just wondering if I am being too cheap, and should really shell out for the 'top shelf' stuff, or whether the lesser brands provide adequate protection.
One more thing, I also am wondering if the leather chaps will provide enough protection in a crash or whether I should go for full on leather pants?
Opinions? Thanks.
