Review Battery Tender Motorcycle Parts
We have three bike battery chargers in the webBikeWorld garage that have been in unceasing use since about 2000, but I've just noticed that in all this time we never ran a battery charger review article.
They became such an indispensable tool that we've probably taken them for granted and overlooked the possibility that webBikeWorld visitors may be interested in learning more. The three units are identical Battery Tender and chargers, and we haven't experienced a single difficulty with them since they were first unpacked and turned on virtually 5 years ago.
every new motorcycle that comes into the garage gets a semi-permanent harness attached to its battery so it can be simply attached to a Battery Tender.
Standard operating procedure is to connect the bike to the Battery Tender as quickly as the bike is parked, and the bike is remains on the charger until it's time for another ride. I also use one to keep my riding lawnmower's battery charged and ready to go.
Some motorcyclists will only use a battery charger often in winter, but most modern bike battery chargers have a sophisticated electronic control system that allows them to be connected whenever the bike is parked.
The systems will charge the battery when mandatory and then they may continuously monitor the battery's condition, activating the charging mode again if required.
The Battery Doc : Charging unit ( center ) ; carrying case, instructions, battery harness ( lower left ), clips for non permanent attachment to battery ( bottom center ), accessory plug ( slightly below charging unit ) and electric cord at higher left.
Traditional wet cell batteries require routine upkeep checks to make sure that the water level in each cell is correct. Many motorbikes are now supplied with upkeep free batteries of diverse types, and both the Battery Tender and the Battery Doc will work with either type.
Whenever I get a used motorcycle, one of the first things I do is to replace the lead/acid battery with a maintenance-free type.
I've had great luck with WestCo maintenance-free motorcycle batteries ( see the wBW article on installing a maintenance-free battery ) and have used them with good results on many motorcycles.
Another good reason to use a motorcycle battery charger is to increase the potential lifespan of the battery itself. Motorbike batteries take heaps of abuse, from heat and vibration to puny charging systems and too many power-draining accessories.
Deltran Corporation, the manufacturers of the Battery Tender, say that'Laboratory tests have shown that consistent use of any Deltran Battery Tender can add however much as three to 4 times normal battery charge lifespan ( 5 to seven years is not weird ) .'
The Battery Tender and has a helpful blinking light that indicates what's taking place after the bike is connected.

could i make this legal in california?
california law states that turning signals must be at least 9 inches apart from each other. so i have a 1989 kawasaki ninja 250r and where the brake light there is two other pods that are not being used like in this pic
http://www.xdcycle.com/discount-motorcycle-accessories/images/C/kawasaki-ex250-ninja-integrated-tail-light.jpg
so i was wondering if i can rewire the two brake signals and paint over say 1/3 of those two pods with a solid color as to not let any light pass. this will technically make the lights 9 inches apart but i was wondering if it will be considered legal since i painted over them to make them 9 inches apart
The law: US Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Part 571, Standard 108 states that turn signals must be amber or red and must be at least 9" apart, center-to-center. If signals are red, their edges must be at least 4" away from the edge of the tail light.

LED rear lights? what can i do?
So the last owner of my cbr 600 f4i, took the stock rear turn signals off and wired some type of led lights onto the stock back light. The two backlights barely light up when I brake and you can barely see each one lighting up when Im signaling. Also the front turn signals are flashing too fast.
this is basically what they look like, http://www.xdcycle.com/discount-motorcycle-accessories/images/T/honda-cbr600f4i-undetray-kit-led-signals-lights.jpg,
they both serve as the backlight, rear and turn signals. I don't mind the set up as long as the leds are bright enough people can see i am turning, and the front turn signals should be flashing at a normal speed. What can i do? can i replace the led with brighter ones?
Sorry I guess link didnt work, here is another, http://www.xdcycle.com/discount-motorcycle-accessories/2001-2003-Honda-CBR600-F4i-Undertail-LED-Lights-Signals-Rated-1.html
