Still A Sweet Single-Seat: The 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob
No body builds a really classic looking motorcycle these days- Except Harley Davidson. Looking like it just rolled out of vacuum packaging from the 1960's, the 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob is 634 pounds of classic good looks. For what is supposed to be a basic motorcycle, however, Harley Davidson has thrown a lot of technology at this ride. From the ability to deactivate the rear cylinder of the bike when at idle to the multi-stage paint system, the Street Bob is far from a "cheap" Harley, but still won't require you to sign over your first born son to climb aboard.
The 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob
The 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob, a relatively new addition to the Dyna family of motorcycles within the Harley Davidson range, and has proven itself to be a mainstay motorcycle in every respect. it seems that the Bobber style of motorcycle building is no longer in the hands of the aftermarket and home builders. After five years, it's clear that Harley won't be letting this one fade into the sunset any time soon. And it's a good thing, too. Riders seeking to step up from Sportster models or small import bikes will find the 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob to be affordable, comfortable, and a great starting point for either a full-on custom treatment or a few personalizing touches here and there.
Specs for the 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob
The 2011 Harley Street Bob, while not quite a bare-bones motorcycle, is still one of the most stripped-down bikes in the lineup. It does, however, have everything that a basic rider needs. The solo seat can easily be swapped out for a two-up seat, but the rest of the bike is mechanically similar to the Super Glide custom. There's just a bit less chrome, mini-ape hanger handlebars, and black powdercoat wheels and engine casing. The Street Bob carries Harley's signature Air-cooled, Twin cam 96 engine, which, coupled with the 6-speed transmission, affords the rider up to 54 miles per gallon on the highway, and 35 miles per gallon in the city. Paint and Options for the 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob
Harley Davidson has always been great about offering a lot of color options on its bikes, and while it's pretty clear that the 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob is a bike more about customizing to the individual rider's taste than not, there's still four basic colors you can choose from until you decide on that perfect custom candy color. Two styles of black paint are offered, one being Harley's signature Vivid Black, and the other the step-up Black Denim. You also have the option of either of two pearl colors, as well, Cool Blue or Brilliant Silver.
Pricing for the 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob
Harley Davidson Priced the 2011 Harley Street Bob from $12, 999 for the bike painted in Vivid Black. The color options will set you back an additional $375, but that's not too bad for a hand-finished pearl paint job, much less a custom paint job like the Black Denim. Security, California emissions and freight charges tack on a bit more, but not too much.
The 2011 Harley Davidson Street Bob, for the fifth year now, is a bike that deserves consideration before you jump into a purchase, particularly if you're into the Bobber style bikes from the fifties and sixties. Reasonably priced and with a good, solid pedigree, the Street Bob is a classic in any generation.
