How To Create Custom Paint Effects On Furniture And More

A coat of fresh paint when skillfully applied can transform an ordinary object into a customized piece of art for your home. It's so easy to pick up used pieces of furniture and other items at garage sales for almost nothing and paint them to suit the color scheme of your home. If you want your handpainted items to be even more distinctive, why not create interesting textures and paint effects on the objects you redo? This can elevate them from simple home dcor to unique pieces of art. Here are some ways to create Custom Paint effects on furniture, vases, cans, paper, boxes, or anything else you care to decorate:

Create Custom Paint effects: Use a sponge

To add interesting texture and interest to an object, paint it with a base coat of paint. Allow it to dry. Purchase a natural sea sponge at your local craft store. Dampen the sea sponge with water and remove any excess so that the sponge is only slightly damp. Dip the sponge into a color and dab it randomly on the surface of the object to create an abstract design. For even more depth and interest, sponge paint with several different colors. You apply sponge dcor to a variety of objects, even the walls of your home.

Create Custom Paint effects: Doily designs

Another way to achieve an interesting effect on objects ranging from wooden boxes to paper is to spray paint using a doily to block out certain areas to create an abstract effect. To do this, place your doilies on the objects to be painted. You'll want to anchor them down so they don't move from the air flow created by the spray paint. Once they're in place, lightly spray paint around the doilies. Allow the paint to dry for five minutes and remove the doilies. You'll have a totally unique, one-of-kind design on your object. For a more complex design, you can change colors, reapply the doilies in a different area and add another layer of paint. This is a fun way to decorate paper for a variety of projects. Be sure to use spray paint only in areas with good ventilation.

Create custom paint effects: Combing

This technique work nicely on wooden boxes and picture frames. First purchase a large comb at your local hardware store. Give the object to be decorated a base coat of paint. Allow it to dry before proceeding. When the basecoat is dry, apply a color glaze in a contrasting color. Drag your comb through the wet glaze to create wavy lines. Allow the glaze to dry before handling.

Create custom paint effects: Crackled finish

Do you like furniture with an aged, weathered look? This look can be quickly and easily achieved by giving the objects a crackled finish. To do this, purchase crackle medium from your local craft store. First apply a suitable base coat to the object in the color of your choice. Once this is dry, apply the crackle medium to the painted surface. Allow it to dry overnight and follow up by applying a top coat. When the top coat is dry, your object should have a weathered appearance with subtle cracks which allow the underlying base color to show through.

Don't forget that you can combine these techniques on a single object to give even more interesting and varied custom paint effects. Have fun experimenting!

How to make custom contact lenses?
I'm looking to make Ciel Phantomhive's cursed eye, because the only custom painted one I could find online was, erm, for lack of a better word - terrible, as well as extremely overpriced. So I'm wondering if there's anyone experienced that could tell me how to paint my own seal onto a regular non-prescription blue or purple contact lens, what kind of paint or dye to use, and what kind of brush... Everything I may need to know. Reference - http://closetotaku888.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/kuroshitsuji4.jpg

To sell or to keep? 2002 Honda Civic?
Alright so I bought a 2002 Civic. At first I thought it was a good car, it had alot of good accessories and cool stuff. But then more problems kept occuring. Now the car is three times as more reliable than when I got it, but some of the accessories that made it worth while do not work. For example, now it passes emmsions, it had 2 broken engine mounts and those are replaced now, I fixed the oil leak, and a few other stuff, the viper alarm system blew the ignition fuse, so I had to remove it. Alot of the accessories were wired from the viper alarm, like the T.V.s and strobes on the outside that made it look like a cop car. It still has LED light bars in the interior, custom interior, kenword touchscreen radio, sub, amp, and 2 speakers. Custom paint and rims and all that good stuff, short ram intake, megan racing exhaust and headers. The heart and soul of the car are good (engine, drivetrain, chasis), but the rest that isn't perfect. All the electronics and wiring might not be exactly right though. So I have the decision to make. I have already accepted the fact that there is no way in hell I will get 8.5k for it. So should I sell and just try and get what I can for it, or should I just cut my losses, try and fix the electrical bugs, and just fix it up into a decent car? What you think?

i don't know what to do..please help ?
I was trying to play some basketball at the rec center, but then i forgot my id card..I was on my way back to my car to get 10 $ and then i see this gorgeous girl who comes up to me and asked me if i live near Edison. She asked me if i could give her a ride home..so i said " sure why not " ( what are the odds to that !! strange place to found love indeed ) We share our hobbies and favorite games while in the car and from there on we decided to keep in contact and start hanging out. So I've been hanging out with this really cute, very smart and gorgeous girl for 3 weeks. Everything was fine, we always talk on Skype, hanging out at the mall, watch movies and etc so then we decided to take it to the next step. we become close friend, but all of the sudden i get too attached to her. Im not sure if i'm ready because im the jealous type kind of guy. She always tells me that she like our casual relationship, but the bad part of the story yet to happen. So there is this guy who is also into her.. and he would practically do anything to win her heart ( he even gave her a dam car 1996 gt mustang with custom paint job ) :/ . at 1 point they decided to hang out and she didn't even tell me anything about it..and this happens twice. Every time i ask her about it she would just say that its ok and don't be jealous ,but then 3 days ago i saw them hanging out together again..and I can't take this anymore.. i dont want jealousy to consume me so should i give her the non contact approach ? or should i just let them ? or maybe ditch her and move on. 1 thing for sure though that I'm already emotionally attached to her and i don't want her leave me =/ I've been busy with work and school so i have much less contact with her, and he practically free all day,, am i about to losing someone yet again ?

Where can I find a pair of cheap high heels to custom paint?
I'm looking for a comfortable pair of closed-toe high heels (3-4 inches) to custom paint. I've done a couple of Google searches, and checked Amazon, but nothing seems quite right. I need size 7 wide, white canvas or leather, preferably under $50.
