Motorcycle Review: The Harley Davidson FXCWC Softail Rocker C
The Harley Davidson FXCWC Softail Rocker C takes Harley Davidson into the Realm of true factory custom motorcycling. While many Harley Davidson owners send their new motorcycles off to shops all over the World to realize their custom vision, Harley Davidson has taken it upon themselves to create in the Rocker C a singularly unique Harley custom which will appeal to just about any Harley Davidson owner with a pulse.
The Rocker C takes much from the current Softail setup, and turns the whole idea of a production motorcycle on its ear. From the custom inspired rear fender hugging the oversized tire to the specially designed wheels, the Harley Davidson Rocker C is the sort of motorcycle you just can't help but notice. With Harley Davidson's signature 96B twin cam engine powering the Rocker C, the Harley Davidson Rocker C also has plenty of power to back up the custom look, and a six-speed transmission to get it all up to speed smoothly.
One of the nicest features of the Harley Davidson Softail Rocker C is the color keyed frame, a nice custom touch you just don't see on production motorcycles, but which is standard fare on customs these days.
Also new to production motorcycles is the Rockertail rear fender which is mounted to the rear swingarm of the Rocker C with no visible fender supports. Mounting the rear fender to the swingarm in the way which Harley Davidson has allows the fender to be mounted much closer to the rear tire, giving the custom effect of a hardtail with the ride of a Softail. Coupled with the low-profile 240mm rear tire and great-looking custom rims, you've got all that you need in the Rocker C to have the best looking factory Harley Davidson custom on the block.
While you may think that you can't carry a passenger on the new Harley Davidson Softail Rocker C, in truth, it is fairly simple to change up from solo to two-up riding by lifting the solo seat and engaging a seat support located there. While the passenger seat of the Rocker C is obviously about as uncomfortable as passenger seat gets, it is convenient, even if it is useful for little more than short trips across town. Beyond that, you're certain to start getting taps on the shoulder with increasing frequency regardless of whether your passenger has an iron butt or not. Chances are, after one long ride on the passenger seat of the Harley Davidson Softail Rocker C, she won't be looking for another long ride any time soon.
As custom motorcycles go, the Harley Davidson Softail Rocker C hits the mark it was most intended for- a cruising one-up custom that looks great on a Saturday night. As a daily rider, however, a better option would be A Harley Davidson Heritage Softail classic or Road King Classic. Priced at just under twenty thousand dollars, the Softail Rocker C comes across as classy, but leaves commuters, travelers, and anyone outside of the custom set out in the cold. All together, the Rocker C is a great looking bike that suffers from an inflated price tag and serious comfort issues all in the pursuit of looking great. You'll just have to ask yourself if it's worth that much to you.
