Important Tips When Buying A Used Motorcycle

Buying a motorcycle is an important decision to make. Buying a used one from a dealer always seems to be safer, but you can buy from an individual as long as you are careful. Here are some important tips on what to look for when Buying A Used Motorcycle.

Test driving shouldn't be a problem, but if an individual doesn't want you to then you know you don't want to buy it. Some things to look for when test driving a bike include making sure it isn't too big or too small for you. Also, make sure that it is comfortable for you to ride. Make sure that if you are going to have a passenger that the motorcycle is made for that. Many experts suggest to look for a throttle with a friction device to maintain throttle position. Self canceling turn signals are also handy to have.

You won't necessarily want to pick a bike just because of color and appearance. Make sure that isn't the only reason or you may end up with a bike that you aren't happy with.

Condition is another important tip when Buying A Used Motorcycle. First, you will want to make sure the headlights, tail lights, front and rear brakes, turn signals and rear-view mirrors work. Also, it is good to see what condition the tires are in and if they will need replaced.

Handling is going to be important with your own personal preference. Make sure it starts easily and that there isn't a lot of smoke. Also ask yourself, do you like how it handles around corners? Does it stop and speed up easily?

Some miscellaneous things you might want to look for can include foot rests instead of foot pegs. These will be more comfortable if you want to take long trips. Make sure you know what options it has and what ones you can install on the motorcycle you are looking at. Some options may not be available depending on what it already has. You will want to make sure it meets all state code requirements from the state you buy it in. For more information on code requirements you can go to the DMV website.

If you buy it from a dealer you will want to check with them to see if it still has a warranty or not.

If you can't decide on what motorcycle you want. You can rent one for a few days to see if you like driving it and also take it for a long ride.

Buying a used motorcycle and i think I'm being overcharged?
Im very interested in getting a suzuki tu250x for my first bike. I have been approved for a loan of 4000 dollars since that is the suggested price of the bike. I talked to the dealer and he said theyre getting a few in soon. I asked final price and he began adding things to the msrp. Title and licensing, delivery, and putting the bike together. etc. Instead of being 4000 it ended up at 4970! THATS A QUARTER PRICE OF THE BIKE ITSELF! Not only that but he would have to get the bike shipped and built regardless of me becuase he needs to sell it right? so why would i pay that? Im really upset. I looked at my finances and was ecstatic when i got the loan, and now all my hope has been crushed. Does anyone have any advice on talking him down or what to do?
