Consumer Review Of T-town Leathers, A Biker Leathers Shop In Tulsa, Oklahoma

T-Town leathers of Tulsa has been in business for many years, and has built a solid reputation for high quality motorcycle leathers in all shapes and sizes. This consumer review provides an unbiased reflection on the business. Other than visiting the store from time to time as a customer, I have no connection whatsoever to the business, nor do I have any vested interest in providing a totally positive or negative account.

Based on my personal opinion, I highly recommend T-Town leathers for anyone who is looking for motorcycle leather shops in Tulsa. My husband and I traveled around to numerous other motorcycle shops in Tulsa over a course of two weeks, and I must say that this location has the widest selection anywhere! From size XX Small to 5X large, in men's as well as women's sizes, there is something for everyone here.

T-Town Leathers is nothing fancy, but it sure carries a huge stock of motorcycle leathers. The building looks like an orange warehouse, and the door reminds you of a bar. The business is located on the far north side of Tulsa, between 36th and 46th street north (streets which run east and west) and north Sheridan (which runs north and south). If you didn't know better, you might think that you missed them altogether, because it is located among a bunch of industrial type businesses and a portion of the airport. The building is painted orange, and has a concrete brick exterior. On any given day you will always find bikers parked outside and bikers shopping inside.

I was in need of a new set of leathers, including boots, jacket, and chaps. Trying to find a jacket that fit properly was extremely difficult, until we visited T-Town leathers, that is. All of the other motorcycle leather shops in Tulsa, including the two Harley Davidson shops, really did not have much selection. All of the women's leathers were, for the most part, made for teeny tiny women. Pretty much all of the shops had a little leather, but for the most part they were more dedicated to the sports bike riders or parts and service. We were getting very disappointed in our search, and after trying on numerous jackets we were about to give up hope. Then we found an advertisement in one of the motorcycle magazines for the T-Town leathers shop and decided to give them a try. We called first to be certain that they were open and had what we were looking for. Little did we know what a great store this would be!

What a surprise when we walked through the doors! Not only does T-Town have leathers, but they have them stacked to the ceiling in some places! The store is definitely for the cruiser drivers and riders, housing everything under the sun that you can think of for the ride. Bins upon bins of chaps line one entire wall, while sale tables hold even more stacks of them. Jackets of all shapes, styles, and sizes are on numerous racks, while specialty t-shirts tempt shoppers and their wallets. Accessories galore fill a number of display cases, including jewelry, patches, wallets, buckles, chains, and collectible items. On another wall, children's sized T-shirts with catchy phrases (some of which are not for the faint of heart) entertain parents.

If you need a helmet, T-Town leathers has those too, including all sizes and styles. Racks of doo-rags, balaclavas, gloves, hair accessories, and everything in between fill every nook and cranny. I was so impressed with this store, in fact, that I will never do business elsewhere again for my motorcycle leather and apparel needs!

Do you know what it smells like when you enter a leather factory? That rugged, leathery smell that is like no other? That is the smell that will hit your nostrils when you open the door at this business. It's that smell that you just want to suck in with a deep breath and, well, enjoy. It is the smell of good quality leather, and that is exactly what we found here. No patch work type jackets made from China in here. Oh no. Only the best leather is sold in this store.

The prices are comparable to other leather goods stores. I would not say they are cheap or discounted, except for the sales racks or tables. Nor are they overpriced. In a way that is a good thing, because it has been my experience that discount stores tend to sell returned items, discontinued items, or things that might be slightly defective. Sometimes the defects are severe, and you don't discover them until later. In other cases the discounted items are cheaply made or of poor quality. So, when I found that the prices were reasonable, comparable, and I would get what I paid for, I was glad to do business at T-Town Leathers.

Since I was shopping for the whole set (boots, chaps, and jacket) I needed some help for the right fit. The store is owned by a husband and wife team, whose love for riding and leathers lead them to open the motorcycle leathers shop in Tulsa. The lady helped to fit me for chaps, and then her husband hemmed them to the right length for my legs. She also helped me to try on different jackets and explained the features of each one. I was very pleased with her respectful, polite manner.

Tony, her husband, is always ready to add a new patch or suggest a new one. He sits behind the leather sewing machine and takes care of all the hem work. Sometimes he has orders stacked up on numerous tables beside him, while in others he helps customers. There's no doubt that he knows what he is doing, though, and he will be the first to tell you if something looks good on you or not.

Motorcycle leathers shops in Tulsa are hard to find, and while most shops will have a few selections, none of them hold a candle to the massive warehouse at T-Town. And I was very pleased when the owners were straight forward with me about how different leather items fit me, or didn't fit. Unlike other stores where the clerk would tell you a dead chicken looks good on you, at T-Town Leathers you are given an unbiased opinion about your selections. For them, it did not matter whether or not they got a sale. If you were pleased then they were pleased, but they also didn't want you to walk out the door looking like an idiot. I was very appreciative of the lady's attention to me and my selections for this reason. I almost picked a jacket that totally made me look like a huge water buffalo! Instead, she helped me find one that was more flattering to my figure but had some great features, and for a good price too.

Another pleasant aspect of this store is the total absence of suggestive selling. Nobody follows you around or tries to sell you something. If you need help, you ask for it, and if you don't then they will leave you alone to shop at your leisure. When we stepped up to the counter they didn't start asking us questions about if we needed this or that too, nor did they suggest that something would go good with our new motorcycle leathers.

The only negative remarks that I can say about this location is the fact that they have a rather wide selection of, shall we say, impolite t-shirts and other apparel. In other words, things are written or printed on the shirts that would not be appropriate in some public settings. So if you are faint of heart, or if some adult oriented materials might offend you, then you may not wish to visit the store. Then again, if you can overlook these and appreciate the warehouse for what it is, then you will find some good deals on some great leathers. I also suggest not taking your school aged children into the store, unless you don't mind them seeing cartoon naked boobies and reading t-shirts/bumper stickers/patches with not-for-children sayings or pictures.

Overall I am very pleased with T-Town Leathers. I believe that there is no better place to get motorcycle leathers in Tulsa than right in their store. And if you need something special, or if they don't have something in stock that you need (which is highly unlikely) they can order it for you. I plan to visit again in the future, but I don't think that I will take my children there, as I am quite old fashioned in that way.
