Motorcycle Mamas - More Women Are Buying Motorcycles
More and more women are buying motorcycles. The American Motorcyclist Association states that women represent about 24, 000 of 265, 000 registered riders. Many of these women are riding bikes they've purchased recently. The Motorcycle Industry Council reports that female motorcycle ownership is up to almost ten percent of the total population of bike owners; even US manufacturer Harley-Davidson has seen local sales of its super-heavy bikes increase from 2% in 1985, to 10% in 2003.
The typical woman who buys a bike is likely to be in her mid-thirties, educated, and upwardly mobile. More manufacturers are designing bikes specifically to accommodate a woman rider, such as the Harley-Davidson Sportster, DynaGlide Low-rider, and the XL1200 Custom, the Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Drifter, and both the 250R and the 500R models of the Kawasaki Ninja, was well as the Kawasaki ZZR600. Honda has brought out the Nightawk 250cc and a Rebel 250cc for the female market, and Suzuki has introduced the 650 Savage, the Marauder 800cc and the 800 Intruder.
With this increase in market share, women motorcyclists have formed their own clubs, as well as printing their own magazines to publicize rallies and charity events, meet one another, and show off their bikes. So, you got a great deal on your motorbike, and you've taken a riding course? Great! Some women are deciding to sell their cars and depend on their motorbikes as their sole means of transportation. It's a great idea, and it means that they'll need some a good deal on a riding suit. Let's talk straight about this for a minute-having left her car behind, she's a great deal more vulnerable in terms of exposure to the elements, as well as in terms of visibility.
If she's taking a riding course like you have, then she knows that defensive riding is all about scanning the environment to anticipate any possible problems, and to assume that somebody else might be the one who makes a mistake. Some like high-visibility suits, such as the High Viz yellow. Others assume that, no matter what they're wearing, it won't be enough for a car driver to notice, and for that reason alone a woman biker should choose protective gear of any color.
Whatever your preferences, keep an eye on industry publications, sure; trust your dealer, as well. Even if you think you know what you want, go into the dealership and let the salesperson show you what can be ordered. You might find out that you can get what you really want, for less than you'd expected to pay.

What is the best female motorcycle gear brand?
I know helmets are mostly unisex or most brands have helmets for both sexes (same with gloves pretty much right?) but I'm trying to find a brand for FEMALES that is equivalent with brands like AlpineStars etc for boots and jackets. I'll be purchasing some female style Kevlar Jeans, from Horny or Draggin etc so jeans don't matter. I'm just mainly looking for brands for boots and jackets. Thanks :)
