I am going to be giving you a review of the 10 best Yamaha motorcycles in my opinion. Before I can give you a review of motorcycles you probably want to know what makes me qualified to even think about offering my opinion.

I started riding motorcycles when I was only eleven or twelve years old. Just to get to ride a motorcycle was a challenge. My dad had some friends that had died in motorcycle accidents before I was even born. I still remember him telling me that there was no way in h e double hockey sticks that I was getting a motorcycle.

Well that lasted about two days. We lived in a rural area and had a patch of trees behind our house. I traded a remote control car for an old 1971 Honda XL 350. Brought it home and hid it in the tree patch figuring "Dad will never find it", boy was I wrong.

Again this took only about two days then IT hit the fan. I was told to get rid of it everyday for over two weeks. I kept telling my dad I would as I was trying to fix it. Dad found out that it didn't run. So he came up with a good idea in his mind.

"The kids only twelve years old he will never be able to get it running. I'll let him keep it if he can get it running." Do Dads dismay about two months later as he was sitting in the kitchen he heard it fire up. It only ran for about 30 seconds, but that's all it took to stoke the fire in me even more.

Three days later, after all of my allowance for about the last three months and all of my spare time I DID IT. I got that old rusty thing running and was ready to ride.

Well it ran good for about 3 weeks before it died never to be revived again. Dad had to keep his agreement I could now have a motorcycle. I have had one ever since. I am now going on 39 years old.

Since it is my belief that motorcycling should start at an early age and progress I am going to tell you about these Yamaha motorcycles as you would grow riding them from a younger age as I did.

The first category of Yamaha motorcycle is the off road bikes. Yamaha makes some really good ones.

YZ 450

This racing style dirt bike, motocross bike is not for the faint at heart. It has a whapping 449 cc 4 valve engine. Weighs only 245 pounds. Has a MSRP of $7990. This is not a bike for beginners. You see a lot of these in the winners circles ad motocross events. Boy are they fun to be on. Weather your souring through the sky after taking a jump, or barreling and brake neck speeds on a strait away.

WR 250 R

This multi-purpose Yamaha motorcycle is great for the beginner. It is a 250 cc engine. Can run equally well on both dirt or the street. Light enough to handle easily. It is fuel injected and gets an estimated 71 miles to the gallon of gas.

The ext and largest selection I am going to be talking about briefly are the street bikes. These bikes all have there own great quality's. The main difference in these are the engine size, price, and customers favorite style.

Road Star S

V Star 1300

MSRP $11, 790. Weight 712 ponds. 1304 cc engine. 4.9 gallon fuel capacity getting an estimated 42 miles per gallon.

V Star Classic

MSRP $6590. Weight 544 ponds. 649 cc engine. 4.2 gallon fuel tank getting an estimated 49 miles per gallon.

Now again I want to state that I know I didn't give much information on those Yamaha motorcycles. The reason is as stated that they are all fairly similar. It boils down to the riders preferences.

I personally bought and drove a 2005 Yamaha V Star 1100 brand new back in 2004. I loved that cycle. It had the get up and go when I wanted it. Had the style and colors I wanted.

FJR 1300

This motorcycle is more like a rocket on wheels. The MSRP is $15, 190. It weighs 641 pounds. Has a 6.6 gallon fuel tank, and gets an estimated 39 miles to the gallon.

When I say sports bike I am talking about crotch rockets, sports bike. You know type I am talking about. it's the ones you usually see the younger guys driving in the movies doing all the wheelies and standees. Flying down the road at unthinkable speeds. That is why this one was not included with the large group of bikes we compared. The body styling is totally different.
